Summary
The Vice-Chair, Member Advocacy role is a volunteer leadership position within ACTRA Toronto’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Working with the Chairs and fellow members, the Vice-Chair helps identify systemic barriers, strengthen advocacy initiatives, and represent the voices of diverse performers within ACTRA and the wider industry. This role is focused on internal member-driven advocacy, Council approved community partnerships, and amplifying performer voices in support of ACTRA’s broader mission of equity and inclusion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Advocacy Support: Work with the Chairs and committee members to identify issues affecting diverse performers and propose advocacy priorities.
- Representation & Outreach: When requested by Council/staff, represent the committee at community meetings, public forums, and industry events, as availability allows.
- Partnerships: When requested by Council/staff, build and maintain relationships with community organizations and industry allies aligned with ACTRA’s D&I values.
- Awareness & Education: Help develop resources, events, and campaigns that raise awareness about equity and inclusion in the screen industry.
Requirements
Applicants must be ACTRA Toronto members in good standing. Additional assets include:
- Commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Comfort representing the committee in public or at meetings.
- Experience in advocacy, organizing, or community-building (formal or informal).
- Lived experience of underrepresented communities is highly valued.
- Knowledge of ACTRA Toronto’s work and priorities is an asset.
Term

Summary
The role of Vice-Chair, Programs & Events will play a key role within the ACTRA Toronto Diversity & Inclusion Committee, working closely with the Chair and Committee members to lead the planning of impactful initiatives that fulfill the committee’s mandate of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the screen industry. This role will focus on creating purposeful programming, planning events, and ensuring the committee’s initiatives foster engagement, visibility, and professional growth for ACTRA’s diverse membership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Program Design & Planning: Develop and oversee workshops, panels, masterclasses, showcases and other initiatives that reflect the committee’s mission in collaboration with the Chairs.
- Event Coordination: Lead the planning, logistics, and execution of events, ensuring they are accessible, inclusive, and well-organized. Manage event timelines, budgets, and logistics in collaboration with the Chairs and with support from ACTRA Toronto staff.
- Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with the Chair and committee to ensure programming aligns with annual priorities.
Requirements
You must be an ACTRA Toronto member in good standing (Full, Apprentice, or AABP) and maintain your member status for the entire term. In addition:
- Creative thinker with a passion for designing engaging and inclusive initiatives.
- Strong organizational, communication and project management skills.
- Solution-based thinking and a positive attitude.
- Experience in event planning, program development, or arts administration is an asset.

Summary
The Diversity & Inclusion Committee at ACTRA Toronto is seeking a Communications & Engagement Coordinator to help amplify the committee’s initiatives and celebrate diverse voices in our community. This volunteer role focuses on creating and curating content that reflects the committee’s values, supports member engagement, and strengthens visibility for D&I initiatives. All communications will be developed in collaboration with the ACTRA Toronto staff team to ensure alignment with union policy and messaging.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Content development: Draft and propose posts (graphics, captions, short videos, stories) to the ACTRA Toronto Communications staff to highlight committee initiatives, events, and campaigns.
- Engagement support: Monitor and share feedback from member interactions on committee channels, and flag questions or concerns for staff follow-up.
- Social media calendar: Assist in planning and scheduling content around D&I committee activities.
- Collaboration: Work with ACTRA Toronto’s Communications staff to ensure content complies with union policies and brand guidelines.
- Promotion: Help showcase committee-led events, campaigns, and partnerships by preparing draft promotional materials.
- Analytics: Collect basic metrics (likes, shares, comments) to help the committee understand what resonates with members.
- Cross-committee support: Coordinate with other ACTRA Toronto committees when D&I initiatives intersect.
Requirements
- ACTRA Toronto member in good standing (Full, Apprentice, or AABP).
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with a focus on engaging and inclusive language.
- Organized, collaborative, and comfortable working independently within a team environment.
- Experience managing or creating content for social media platforms is an asset (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok).
- Enthusiasm for amplifying performer voices and advancing diversity and inclusion.
