Statement from ACTRA Toronto:

We acknowledge the letter circulated by the Entertainment Industry Coalition (EIC) on March 3, 2026, to signatory agents, ACTRA Toronto Council and on social media.

ACTRA Toronto disagrees with many of the claims made by the EIC, which contains several misrepresentations and inaccuracies. The statement does not reflect the full history and background of the EIC and its relationship with ACTRA Toronto.

It is disheartening that this statement was released today when the many performers harmed by Compass Artist Management co-founder Danny Friedman’s criminal wage theft were expecting closure through sentencing. Though that finality has been delayed yet again, our members continue to show resilience and resolve in their pursuit of justice. As their elected leadership and staff, we stand vigilant alongside them.

To all of our members: Rest assured that ACTRA Toronto continues to support and advocate for performers and will be available to its membership with respect to any issues or enquires regarding agent representation.

In the coming days, ACTRA Toronto will be providing a comprehensive response to the EIC statement.
