Labour Day Parade 2026

September 7 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Free

It’s August, which means Labour Day is nearly here!

This Labour Day, ACTRA Toronto is calling on the Government of Ontario to pass meaningful Status of the Artist legislation that guarantees professional artists sectoral bargaining, better protections, and stronger rights. This will deliver the security, protections, and working conditions essential to the sustainability of the creative economy.

Status of the Artist goes back to 1980, when UNESCO urged member states to guarantee artists real security: training, social security, fair income, mobility, freedom of expression, and the right to organize. But 46 years later, Ontario still hasn’t answered that call. Status means protection. So this Labour Day, March with us and let’s make our voices heard. We want Status of the Artist Now!

All ACTRA Toronto members are encouraged to join. Family and friends are welcome too. Detail below.
